South Dakota Indian Education Summit

The 2013 Annual Indian Education Summit will offer high-quality professional development, information on the latest trends and proven best practices in the field of Indian education. The 2013 Summit will showcase educational projects, programs and initiatives from pre-school to post-secondary. The focus will be on educational programs that successfully implement concepts that support local history, environment, culture and economy through hands-on, project based, and/or real-world experiences while engaging all students by supporting varied learning styles.

RunningHorse Livingston is a nationally recognized teacher, trainer and coach, providing professional development for teachers in public, tribal and charter schools. He mentors prospective teachers at community and tribal colleges across the Midwest, and also works directly with schools on implementing culturally responsive pedagogy.

Dr. Stephen Sroka is an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, as well as President and Founder of Health Education Consultants. Dr. Sroka has received the Outstanding School Health Educator Award, been selected the Disney Outstanding Health Teacher of the Year, and was inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame.
